Ansiedade (Anxiety), street plate, a3; 2016- ongoing

During my residency in Pivo gallery in Sao Paulo I spent lot of time running errands in this enormously big and chaotic city. I was amazed by the beauty of it’s nature, scared of the chaotic character and angry about hundrets of homeless people trying to survive on the streets. In Sao Paulo it is easy to switch in one second from beautiful park into a landscape that resembles a civil war.
Somewhere on my way I started to feel very anxious. After certain time I decided to make a work about this feeling.
I developed a simple project for an intervention - a street plate with the word “anxiety” written on it. ( Portuguese “Ansiedade”)
I ordered the plate in a shop in the center of the city but as my residency was about to finish I never bought it back. The plate was prepared for me and as I never came back to this shop the owner placed the plate in between others in he’s vitrine. It was exhibited there for two years.
I came back to Brazil and bought it back.
The sign will appear in different parts of the city.
